Yi-ping FANG is currently a full professor in Centre of Mountain Development at Institute of Mountain Hazards & Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and He is also a full professor in College of Resource and Environment at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He earned his doctorate in Human Geography from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2002. He pursued his post-doctoral research in the School of Management, University of Electric Science and Technology of China. His research concentrated on mountain sustainability, sustainable livelihood, climate change adaptation, and ecological efficiency of industry. He has published 179 articles in the peer-reviewed journals, and has delivered 30+ lectures as keynote speaker in the international and national conferences. He is recipient of several awards such as 2018 ICIMOD Mountain Prize Honorable Mention award by ICIMOD, the Academic and Technical Leaders of Sichuan Province award by the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and outstanding individual in the 90th funding anniversary of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party.
Professor Fang is committed to encompassing an interdisciplinary approach incorporating the latest developments and debates within Human Geography and interrelated fields across the Physical Geography, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Ecology, Economics and Management Science etc. He has consistently completed the numerical simulation and quantitative work on climate change and livelihood adaptation, natural disasters and resilience at community scale, sensitivity of livelihood capital, and methodology of sustainability evaluation.
